Interviewer: At the century’s end, with rising oceans and radiation threatening our very existence, once again humanity looks to technology for salvation. Father: Ridiculous: your technology has brought us to the very brink of extinction. Destroy it all and banish those who believe otherwise. I: You talk of banishment but the Mars mission is an exodus, using our last remaining technology to colonise a new planet. And how ironic that the leader of this mission is your wife. F: It’s not irony - it’s treachery. But no matter: now we Luddites rule the Earth, technology is no longer tolerated here. We have camped inside the last skyscraper still standing and all of our youth strong enough to withstand the radiation are up on its roof sowing the last seeds. With God’s grace, our family of true Earthers will weather this pagan storm and see green fields growing under blue skies once again. I: But surely all the young people are leaving for Mars? F: No, no, not all of them…

Alone 04:24
Stars are in motion Over the ocean Sickening notion Nothing is right Sure as I stand here Touching the dark air There is a nightmare Just out of sight Post nuclear farmer High up on the altar There’s only one answer And so I obey Sound of a door key Turning so slowly Everything tells me I have to stay Alone Fish out of water Lamb to the slaughter Nobody’s daughter Nobody’s son Odd sock in the sock drawer Washed up on the seashore What’s left of the hardcore I’m only one Lost out on the North Sea Deep under the oak tree No end to my journey I’m trying to breathe Here in the darkness Seeding the harvest Stuck in the madness Never to leave Alone
3.
I see you I feel you I know you But I’m not with you Can’t touch you Can’t hold you Can’t show you How I miss you Out in space, far away See your face every day Lost on the horizon I feel you standing so close to me But time has been frozen Reaching for you through eternity A veil of pollution Hiding the path that would lead me through The only solution Sending my life force to rescue you Say my name precious one All this pain nearly gone I see you I see you Until then hold on tight Promise I will make it alright I see you I see you
4.
Surfing into the sky Time to bid you goodbye In the blink of an eye Constellations go by Sanity, gravity Doesn’t mean that much to me On my way to you Get the message through Calculations are done Wheel of fortune has spun Set my phasers for stun Burn my wings on the sun Reprogram, zap my ram Let me draw you a diagram On my way to you Get the message through The earth is coming faster Now I need to use the blaster And the countdown is beginning And the sky is slowly spinning Now I feel the pull of gravity I know the timing’s right for me I hear a rushing sound and now I’m landing on the ground On my way to you Get the message through
5.
D: Metal from the skies - run and hide! R: Don’t be frightened. D: You’re tech - you’re evil - don’t touch me! Father - let me back downstairs! R: I have come with a message from your mother. D: You’re lying! My mother abandoned us years ago - she chose her Tech friends over me - she’s a million miles away on Mars. R: Not so - she never left. All this time she has been watching from a satellite up above. Now she needs you to come with me, so we can power up the last spaceship. D: Shut up! You’re trying to trick me! R: She said you would not believe me. She told me to play you this. (Lullaby) R: She said that you would remember. D: Yeah, yeah, I remember.
6.
I Remember 05:04
I Remember - Daughter I remember All the places that we went I remember All the joy you’d represent I remember When your love was heaven sent I remember I remember Every time we’d take the bus I remember How you used to make a fuss I remember Knowing it was really us I remember Couldn’t feel Couldn’t let myself go through this ordeal Now I see All the time you should’ve been here with me I remember It hurts so much but I remember I remember I remember Your gentle touch and I remember I remember Now I know That you never really wanted to go Can it be Can we go back to just you and me (spoken) You used to bring me orange juice And I would smile at you And we would play. And then you were gone. Now, are you back? Where are you? I can’t see you. Can I do this? I don’t know. I just don’t know. But I remember It hurts so much but I remember Your gentle touch and I remember The way you loved me I remember The way I loved you I remember The day I lost you I remember The years I missed you I remember The day I find you I’ll remember I remember I remember
7.
Rush 04:26
On a ride Through the night Through the sky Hold on tight See my life Left behind Strangest thing I don’t mind Cos it’s a rush Being here with you As I learn to trust Everything you do Voices in my head Getting in the way Listen to my heart Saying I’m OK Yes it’s a rush Being here with you As I learn to trust Everything you do Letting go of all That I’ve ever known Chase the waterfall Spirits having flown Crystal beam From the ground Blinds my eyes Brings us down Rushing air Body numb Nearly there Here we come
8.
The Pyramid 01:03
D: But where are we? R: The pyramid - repository of all the technology remaining on Earth - and the last spaceship. Our way to her is inside. D: But how do we get inside? R: Put your hand into the beam. D: But it’s tech - my father told me it’ll tear me apart! R: Just trust me. D: OK… FX: Electronic surge of energy D: Aargh - what’s happening? FX: Door opens.
9.
Future Magic 04:41
Flashing lights have come to woo me All their colours gently soothe me My whole being falls asunder As I open to the wonder The wonder The wonder Such delights I see emerging Pulsing currents softly surging Many puzzles I will ponder Many worlds where I can wander Can wander Can wander Here is the future that I never knew Here is the darkness that they overthrew Myriad miracles glistening and new Can all this magic be true? And the network has a rhythm Light refracted through its prism Let it fill your nervous system Feel the power of its wisdom Its wisdom Its wisdom Travel through this magic kingdom Ride the flotsam and the jetsam Deep inside the inner sanctum I can hear the sound of freedom Of freedom Of freedom Here is the future that I never knew Here is the darkness that they overthrew Myriad miracles glistening and new Can all this magic be true? Future magic
10.
Come To Me 04:25
Come outside, we’ll sit and talk There’s so much I need to know If you want to leave my flock This is not the way to go I can show you how to live And I know what you will need There’s so much I want to give If you follow I will lead You don’t have to be the last There are things you do not know Seeing you repeat the past Turning me into your foe There’s a way we can be friends There’s a way we could agree There’s a way to make amends If you’ll only come to me Come to me Now we’re running out of time Come to me you know you must In my eyes you’ll see that I’m I’m the only one to trust I’ve done nothing that was wrong You’re the one who brings the shame Do you want me weak or strong Can’t you see we’re just the same Now I’m down upon my knees If you join me we can pray I will beg you till I bleed But you know you have to stay I can’t turn my back on you I’m not going to set you free I’ll do what you want me to But you need to come to me Come to me
11.
I have loved you all my life But every time I reached for you You would gently smile and turn away Better things to do Suddenly you’re standing here Asking me to start anew What has changed that makes today the day I don’t have a clue I don’t think you ever let Anyone inside your head I don’t think you ever heard Anybody else’s word I don’t think you ever saw Just what I was looking for I don’t think you ever knew Just how much I needed you You want to keep my hope denied And come to me when you are stuck After all the times that you have lied You’re out of luck I can’t call this place my home It’s time for me to disappear Leaving through this astral aerodrome I’m outta here I don’t think you ever let Anyone inside your head I don’t think you ever heard Anybody else’s word I don’t think you ever saw Just what I was looking for I don’t think you ever knew Just how much I needed you You never knew
12.
D: Goodbye father. F: No - wait - you can’t leave! D: Is that a laser - are you using tech now? F: I’m sorry love, but you have to go to sleep. R: Not so fast! FX: Laser gun fires. R: Ow! Quick - grab the controls. D: But I don’t know how to fly a spaceship! R: Yes you do! Try and remember. F: Don’t take her from me! FX: Laser gun fires twice. R: Ohhh - I’m blacking out. D: No, no - don’t leave me to do this on my own - I’ll crash the ship! Oh - the control panel - it’s lighting up! This is happening! FX: Ship powers up and takes off. D: Hey, maybe I can do this.
13.
I am standing here Moving through my fear As I feel these sensations so new See the stars outside They’re my only guide but they’re Bringing it back to you Through the dead of night On a lonely flight In a ship with no pilot or crew Hear the planets hum Their galactic drum is Bringing it back to you I can see your face Cross the darkest space A connection that I always knew Only you and me And this melody, feel me Bringing it back to you As we walk this way Passing every day We’re forgetting the moments are few Like the accident That you never meant it’s just Bringing it back to you Feel another force Let it take its course Realise that we haven’t a clue All the times we kissed All the rides we missed They were bringing it back to you Coming closer now And I wonder how I will travel the last avenue In the final mile It’s the moment I’ll be Bringing it back to you
14.
D: Step through the veil Now I step through the veil Oh Mother You are home You are holy Now I have come To your arms Time moves slowly M: Oh Daughter As my heart feels the old you I let life go Though I wish I could hold you Why did I leave you below Reasons vanish All that is here for you now Is this message War comes from Mars And the Earth soon will perish Here you are safe And your love I will cherish I will cherish I will cherish
15.
There’s a place I was born Hills and dales weatherworn But my days there were gone Much too quickly Now I watch from afar On this spurious star And I know that the scar Will cut deeply It’s the end of the world No more silver and gold It’s the end of my world so completely Emigre Cast away from you Say goodbye to my love for you all As the bombs starts to fall They’re unleashing a ball of confusion And the dark clouds of dust Turn my dreams into rust Any safety was just an illusion It’s the end of the world All the tales have been told It’s the end of my world So completely Emigre Cast away from you It’s the end of the world Watch the blackness unfold It’s the end of the world Now the last bell has tolled It’s the end of the world Feel my heart turning cold It’s the end of my world so completely Emigre Cannot stay Comes the day Cast away from you From you
16.
D: So, metalhead, we struggled across the infinite blackness of space to meet a hologram of my dead mother - what was the point of all that? R: The point was to save you. D: My home is being obliterated by Martian bombs, my stupid evil parents have annihilated each other and now I’m stranded alone on this dying satellite - how is that saving me? R: Don’t give up. That’s not what your parents wanted. They never meant to hurt you. They were only human, like me and you. D: Me and… you? R: Hang on - let me get this helmet off. FX: Helmet comes off. R: They loved you.
17.
F: When we destroyed the planet that you lived on We were only trying to do our best M: When we went at each other with the napalm We were only trying to do our best F: And all along you were the one who suffered But you know we never even guessed M: While we made war with psychic biohazard We were only trying to do our best Just our best F: When you came we were blessed It’s true M: All our love we confessed To you F: But the years came to test Us too M: And the hate coalesced And grew M: So we gave our all But now you leave F: And was our family Just make-believe M: We hope the stars can take Your pain away F: And that you think about Your folks some day M: When I nailed your jacket to the table F: When I told you that your hair looked awful M: That time I put the dog shit in your bagel F: When I realised you were completely evil
18.
Time To Go 05:33
R: Come Go with me my friend We’ll write the tale The tale that doesn’t end Bring all your hopes and fears Watch as life just disappears Time to go Time to go D: Thought I knew it all Pride and then the fall Shoulder to the wheel Nothing left to feel Time to go Time to go R: Be Be with me and see it through Know There’s nothing else for you to do Look Far across the sands of time You Walking with your hand in mine Time to go Time to go
19.
Staring into the abyss From the highest diving board Don’t know how it came to this But all the facts can’t be ignored It is time to take our chance Bet the stack and roll the dice Step out on the floor to dance And enter hell or paradise Into the darkness Into the void Into the darkness Post humanoid Into the darkness Our blood on the line Into the darkness Incarnadine I don’t have a clue about this stuff Kinda hoping we will be enough Got no answers, don’t know what to do If we die at least I’ll be with you Sorry I don’t have a plan But perhaps it’s meant to be Just how could my tiny brain Discover mankind’s destiny See you on the other side Now the time for words has gone When I asked the Gods replied It’s time to meet your fate head on Into the darkness Into the void Are they all out to get you Are you just paranoid Don’t look over your shoulder When you know it’s too late Now you need to be bolder Time to accelerate Do it do it Into the darkness Into the void Into the darkness Post humanoid Into the darkness Our blood on the line Into the darkness Incarnadine Into the darkness It’s gonna be scary You ain’t gonna like it It’s gonna get hairy You’ve still gotta do it You can’t be afraid now I know that you’re with me But where are we going I don’t know what I’m doing But I see you are here with me And I know we can do Only this and there’s no Other way so we’ll try Till we fail or succeed Will we know which is which In the darkness Here in the darkness We’re in the darkness In the darkness
